Export someone’s personal data
Use WordPress personal-data exports to collect matching WConvert submissions and inspect the captured consent information.

Before you start
You need WordPress access to personal-data requests and the person’s exact email address. Verify the requester’s identity before sharing an export. WConvert adds its records to the WordPress export; other active plugins may contribute their own data.
For routine spreadsheet work, use submission exports. This guide covers a request for one email address.
Create and confirm the request
- Open Tools → Export Personal Data. You can also use WConvert → Settings → Data & privacy → Export personal data.
- Enter the requester’s email under Username or email address.
- Leave Send personal data export confirmation email selected and choose Send Request.
- Have the requester follow the confirmation link. Check that the request shows Confirmed.
When identity was already confirmed
WordPress lets an administrator create a confirmed request without sending another confirmation email. Use that option only when your process has already verified the requester. Our local test used a fictional address under our control.
Download and review the export
- On the confirmed request, reveal the row actions and choose Download personal data.
- Wait for the export to finish, then open the downloaded ZIP and its index.html report.
- Find WConvert leads. Check the email, campaign and submitted date against the request.
- Review the whole report before sharing it securely. WordPress also offers Send export link.
Enlarge screenshotDepending on what was captured, WConvert can include email, phone, submitted fields, question answers and the consent wording stored with the submission. An absent consent entry means no wording was stored there; it is not a recorded refusal.
Check the matching scope
| Included or matched | Boundary |
|---|---|
| The exact email address | Matching normalizes capitalization and surrounding spaces. It does not follow that email to other addresses or phone-only records. |
| Saved WConvert submissions | Erased records and records removed by retention cannot be exported. |
| Captured consent wording | The report uses the wording stored with the submission, not a later edit to the form. |
| Other systems | Copies in mailing services, downloaded CSVs and backups require separate handling. |
Test this on staging with a known fictional submission: export its address and confirm that the report contains the expected campaign and values. For phone-only records, use the exact identifier in Leads and review its matching submissions before exporting.
