Install and activate WConvert

Install WConvert Free from its plugin ZIP and check that you can open Campaigns in WordPress.

Before you start

You’ll need WordPress 6.8 or later, PHP 8.1 or later, permission to install plugins, and the WConvert Free plugin ZIP. Your host can confirm the PHP version if you are unsure.

Use Get WConvert for current download or release availability. This guide starts once you have the ZIP. Keep it zipped; WordPress installs the archive for you.

Upload and activate the plugin

  1. In WordPress, open Plugins → Add Plugin. Some WordPress versions call this Add New Plugin.
  2. Select Upload Plugin.
  3. Choose the WConvert Free ZIP in the file picker, then select Install Now.
  4. When installation finishes, select Activate Plugin.

If WordPress says the plugin is already installed, check Plugins → Installed Plugins before replacing anything. An existing active copy does not need to be installed again.

Using Pro or WordPress multisite?

Pro works alongside the Free plugin. Keep Free installed and active. On multisite, activate WConvert on the individual site; network activation is not supported. Ask the network administrator to install the plugin if you cannot see the upload controls.

Check that installation worked

  1. Open Plugins → Installed Plugins and find WConvert: Popups and Inline Forms for Lead Capture.
  2. Check that its action is Deactivate. That means the plugin is active. If it says Activate, activate it.
  3. Open WConvert in the WordPress menu. You should see Campaigns and a button to create a campaign.
